What is Sports Psychology?

Sport psychology provides a set of skills for on-field performance enhancement; personal and relationship maintenance in a sporting career; and self-management skills for out of sport interests and activities.  This knowledge has contributed greatly to the field of Lifeskills Coaching – another area of Geoff’s expertise.

Sport psychology is better termed performance psychology and is appropriate for all levels of participant.

  •  Young athletes benefit by the early use of mental skills into their practice and play
  • Senior elite competitors most always need psychological skill to sustain themselves at to level
  • Recreational athletes and exercisers can use this information to manage themselves in competition to ensure they continue to enjoy participation
  • Retiring competitors usually benefit from some counselling on transition factors to help them continue to feel positive about their life.
