Counselling: Trauma

The experience of trauma is a very personal thing; it often quite different for each individual even if they have experienced the same threat.  Examples of traumatic events include the obvious crime and war situations; survival of natural disasters such as earthquakes, flooding, cyclones and bush fires. Divorce; redundancy; child sexual, physical and psychological abuse and domestic violence also cause a state of trauma.

Geoff and Kellene’s work in this area covers initial crisis intervention and containment strategies; debrief and restoration activities around work and day to day functioning; and ongoing trauma counselling through the areas of Acute Stress Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
